The Tony® Award-winning Broadway musical, based on the Oscar® winning film, has taken the West End by storm, with standing ovations from the public and a record-setting 28 five-star reviews from UK critics.

With gorgeous Gershwin tunes (including the classic hits ‘S Wonderful and I Got Rhythm), stunning designs and show-stopping choreography, experience this “truly ravishing” (The Guardian) new hit musical in the luxury of the historic and beautifully restored Dominion Theatre, directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, written by Craig Lucas and designed by Bob Crowley.

“An impassioned love-letter to art and life” (The Daily Telegraph), An American In Paris finds a young American GI pursuing his dream to make it as a painter in the aftermath of war. Following a chance encounter with a beautiful young dancer, the ‘City of Light’ becomes the backdrop to a sensuous, modern romance of art, friendship and love.

Impressive performances showing first class talent. I am no musical enthusiast, but was attracted most of the time. Graceful impression of old-time innocence and romance was resonated constituting reminiscence of old hollywood show on which the musical is based. The greatness of Gerschwin brothers' music was well demonstrated.

Lively show, very balletic and an agreeable afternoon at the theatre. I'm getting on a little, but I found the plot and dialogue hard to follow, the lighting a little fussy, though with some strong spectacular effects. Some excellent acting - but some voices were poor.

Michael Reynolds

Best production we have ever seen!

Helen Noren

Beautifully elegant and well............Parisienne!

Booking was easy and being able to print the tickets at home was a bonus. The show was excellent - wonderful dancing and singing and on the technical side, the way the scenery and props worked was simply stunning. Everything a London Production should be. Why not five stars? Well, simply because we did not know what to expect from the show and would have liked a few more songs to pad out a thin plot. But still a super evening out! (Oh yes, and the Theatre was easy to get to, was warm and comfortable with enough legroom even for two six-footers!)

ALLAN VENESS

Wonderful production with nothing to fault. Excellent sound and amazing scenery. Well worth the ticket price!

Owen Murphy

Absolutely fantastic performance! Hope it comes to London again.

Dol Watt

Fantastic performance- took my friend for matinee yesterday for her birthday. What a wonderful uplifting afternoon. They are all extremely talented singers/actors/dancers/musicians.

Briony Mackley

Fantastic! Show was superb. Theatre was wonderful & staff were very nice. The music & dance was mesmerising, & the stage sets (& dancing changes!), and costumes were just perfect. Thank you for a brilliant evening. So glad we got tickets before it finishes on 7th.

I had been wanting to see the show for some time and this was the final opportunity. I am a fan of George Gershwin's music and thought that the cast and orchestra were very good. The dance routines and singing were excellent with some good harmonies. My father came with me and we had excellent views from our seats in the stalls. To sum up, the show was well worth turning out for.

John Thoday

great show, no complaints

This was our fourth visit to the show in this current run, which sums up what we thought of the show. Despite cast changes over the four visits, the current cast were still outstanding. The choreography and subtle scene chances were outstanding. The orchestra, hidden below stage were well blended and did not over power the actors voices. Pity this run ends 6/1/18, but if it is running elsewhere - it’s first class. By the way - there is lots of dance and ballet in the show ( people next to us were moaning that they didn’t expect so much dance - doh !!)

REVIEW: An American in Paris ". . . an enjoyable evening at the theatre"

The art deco features of the Dominion Theatre provide a fitting home for 1940s musical An American in Paris. Based on a Gene Kelly film of the same name, the show delivers everything you would expect from a musical of that period. The costume, choreography and music provide a nostalgic feel – something that will appeal to fans of La La Land.

REVIEW: An American in Paris at the Dominion Theatre * * * *

When An American In Paris opened on Broadway in 2014, it was one of the hottest dance shows of the season. Now, three years later, the show has landed in London’s West End with Tony Award-nominees Leanne Cope and Robbie Fairchild at the helm in a production so unique and so dazzling that it’s sure to leave a mark on the West End for time to come.

REVIEW: An American in Paris

An American in Paris feels more like a Sadler’s Wells show than a West End musical, with its focus on ballet it is much slower than West End audiences will expect (especially compared to Disney’s Aladdin around the corner) but it is a beautiful show, which puts the focus on movement rather than flamboyance.

Shows to see in London for Valentine's Day 2017

Valentine’s Day, whether you love theatre, or love someone who loves theatre, why not treat yourself to a show this cold February evening? (It will make up for the scarily busy restaurants, I promise)
Last year I spent Valentine’s Day with Simon Russell Beale. If you are confused by that statement for a number of reasons, then you should be. Sadly he isn’t available this year, but these will be just as enjoyable.
