Israel Galván likes nothing more than pushing boundaries and surprising with a know-how fed by the best Flamenco tradition. In FLA.CO.MEN, he deconstructs syntax again, cleaving the memory of his earlier pieces and captures on-the-fly figures that he charges with a new electricity.

As an aficionado of the flamenco guitar for 3 decades, I was completely misled as to the content of what was about to be unleashed on me. I thought it was going to be a flamenco show "of-sorts." The "show" began slow, drawn-out and basically went downhill from there. Repeatedly, as some "fire" began to take flame, it fizzled out as if the participants were unsure of what to do next. There were 3 periods where the action stopped. ??? I was informed it was some kind of artistic expression which, like most of the performance, went right passed me. All said, the mysterious world of "art" often borders and indeed crosses the line defined as "having a laugh!" This was deep into that territory.

Mr Paul Sullivan

This was a high energy performance from all six participants. A sort of Michael Flately on speed. The music was interesting although, to my mind, not enough of it. Interesting Moorish singing also Only go to this if you like rhythm. Although I enjoyed this it did seem, to me it was, in part, a vanity show by Mr Galvan, to show how clever his footwork is.
