English National Ballet present the classic fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty, in a colourful and spellbinding show for all the family.
With a narrator to help the young audience follow the classic story of Aurora and her true love’s kiss, and a shortened version of Tchaikovsky’s beautiful melodies, My First Ballet: Sleeping Beauty is an enchanting first encounter with dance for children.

Enjoyed the show, good view from our seats. Narrator very good. Thought the performance was a bit lacklustre in parts, compared to the last one we saw, hence 4 rather than 5 stars.
My 6 year old loved the show
The costumes were lovely and it was beautifully executed but my 5 year old daughter and I both separately came to the conclusion that we preferred the Canterville Ghost which we’d seen at same venue a year before but which was actually danced by children ballerinas as it had more humour in it and was more engaging. Also although we paid for 2 seats in stalls we both had to sit on the same one as there was a man sat in front of us and because we were quite central it basically meant we couldn’t see at all without craning our necks as he was so close to us. I prefer theatres for kids where the seats are such that they can always see either above or between those in front. So overall I would not come again sadly.
Excellent experience for the whole family. My daughter loved it! Beautifully choreographed, wonderful set up, we will be back next year. I just wish that there is an age limit to perhaps 5 plus because too many babies/toddlers can spoilt the fun and experience for others.
The narrator was amazing. The quality of ballet was not as good as last years “swan lake”. My daughter though really enjoyed it!
I thought the performance was really amazing- very child friendly, however I think there should be an age restriction of 8 years + because the moving and talking talking of young children can distract from the show and it costs a lot of money to come. It was also a shame that not all the classic sleeping beauty songs were played. The quality of the performance and costumes were superb.
I went to see Sleep and Beauty with my reluctant son. He thought Ballet was for girls and, when he saw the majority of the spectators were girls, was a bit uneasy. When it started he could not keep his eyes off the dancers. He really love it, although complaint about noisy girls who didn't know how to behave in a theatre. The fact that there was a running commentary to explain kids what was happening was fantastic because it keep them really interested and focused on the plot. Well done!
An enchanting perforance!
Most enjoyable! My niece loved it!
Me and my 5 yo daughter enjoyed the show immensely, the story-teller was a good idea and played superbly. I think it should be more clearly explained that this is not ENB ballet, but in fact ENB School. We learned about it only when we bought the programme. While I think giving ENB students a testing ground is a good idea, I was expecting to see professional dancers onthe stage.
The show was absolutely amazing
Perfectly adapted for children, the narrator was brilliant at setting the scene and impressive with his magic tricks. My daughter was truly entranced throughout the whole performance. I hope to see more ballets adapted like this.
